Philippe Després

Prof Philippe Després is a High-Performance Computing (HPC) expert, who pioneered the use of massively parallel calculation platforms in accelerating algorithms in medicine, such as tomographic reconstruction in radiology and dose calculations in radiation oncology. As a HPC expert, he is heavily involved in the development of digital research infrastructures, FAIR-compliant research data management, and data-driven projects at the interface of artifcial intelligence and health. He is the Director of the Big Data Research Center at Université Laval and the co-lead of the Health axis of the International observatory on the societal impacts of AI and digital technology (OBVIA). Prof Després is also a member of the Researcher Council of the Digital Research Alliance of Canada.
